This is the second year in a row that wearable technology has been named as the top fitness trend, with exercisers loving the tracking, challenges and motivation that technology is now able to give them. Check out the top three favourites on the 2017 fitness trend list.
1. Bodyweight training
Bodyweight training can be pitched at all fitness levels, making it the perfect option for beginners, intermediates and advanced exercisers. Turn an exercise up to make it harder by adding explosive movements or speed. Turn an exercise down when you need to by regressing it to a lower level. One of the best things about bodyweight training is that it can also be extremely functional – an exercise that mimics the same movement patterns as everyday life. The better we get at certain movement patterns through exercise, the easier everyday life becomes. Functional fitness exercises train your muscles to help you do everyday activities safely and efficiently.
Ticking the bodyweight training trend, Emily Skye Ignite is a 30 minute low-impact, high-intensity class exclusive to Goodlife Health Clubs. Achieve maximum results with a series of fundamental bodyweight and equipment-based exercise techniques from fitness guru and role model Emily Skye.
2. Educated, certified and experienced fitness professionalsDespite people loving the new technology that is enabling them to stick to and achieve their health and fitness goals, at the end of the day we still crave human interaction!
A Goodlife Fitness Professional will tailor activities not only towards your health and fitness goals, but also within your fitness levels while still challenging you more than you would challenge yourself. As qualified personal trainers, they can also help you be accountable for your training. Not only would you be letting yourself down, but you’d be letting them down too if you are not committed to your training. A good PT can also help change your attitude to and motivation for exercise. a highly desirable trait if you’ve given exercise a go in the past and not quite found your groove with it.
3. Group trainingGroup training is so popular year after year because there is so much variety available – meaning exercise will never be boring! You can pretty much pick your style of training and find a group exercise session that covers it – whether it be cycling, HIIT, strength training, Pilates, yoga or Zumba.
Group training can be motivating, challenging, fun and social and if you’re looking for a group session that ticks all of the above and is a hot exercise trend for 2017, give Bootybarre a try!
